The Foundation and Consumentenbond are calling on Facebook users and/or Instagram users to stand up for their rights and join one or both actions.
You can join the action about the processing of personal data (the first action) if you used Facebook at any time from 1 April 2010 and lived in the Netherlands. If you belong to this group, you probably also fall within the scope of the group of Aggrieved Parties that the Foundation represents in its second action about the transfer of personal data outside of Europe. You can join this second action if you are or have been a user of Facebook and/or Instagram and lived in the Netherlands between 25 May 2018 and the present.
You can sign up if you are age 16 or older. If you are under 18, please ask your parents/guardian for permission before signing up. To sign up for either or both actions against Meta and/or for more information about both actions, please visit Consumentenbond’s website.
Good to know
With your participation, you are giving your support and consent to Data Privacy Stichting to (try to) secure compensation from Meta in one or both actions on your behalf.
Participation is on a “no cure, no pay” basis. This means that you do not have to pay anything now. If a positive result is achieved and compensation is awarded for you, up to 18% of that amount plus expenses subject to Court approval will be withheld. If no result is achieved, you do not have to pay anything.
The Foundation has instructed Consumentenbond Claimservice B.V. to establish the registration process for consumers, and to provide administrative support for your claim. Consumentenbond Claimservice B.V. collects personal data from participants on behalf of and with accountability from the Data Privacy Stichting. This means that the Foundation remains responsible for this data and that Consumentenbond Claimservice B.V. is the processor on behalf of Data Privacy Stichting.
