The Amsterdam District Court has ruled that it has jurisdiction to hear the dispute. It also decided to stay (suspend) the proceedings until the Court of Justice of the European Union has answered preliminary questions in another case.

The first hearing has taken place regarding the Court’s jurisdiction and Meta’s request for a stay. A ruling of the court is expected on 15 October 2025.

Meta has requested the Court to stay (i.e. suspend) the (new) legal proceedings pending a decision in the appeal proceedings. Meta also disputed the jurisdiction of the Dutch court. The Foundation responded in writing at the end of 2024.

The Foundation, with the support of the Consumentenbond, has initiated new legal proceedings against Meta under the WAMCA. Read the extract of the summons.
